As a youngster embroidery was one of my favourites. From the age of twelve I made my own clothes.
In 1982 I made my first patchwork pieces: little quilts for the cradle.
Then the quiltvirus hit me, (teaching) patchwork and quilting became part of my daily life.
Since then I have made many quilts from traditional to modern art.
Today I depict themes in my quilts which touch conditions of human life.
I use themes like ‘Freedom of movement’ and ‘Fragility of life’.
I always strive for perfect colour balance, which results in subtile contrasts in colour.
The play with form and colour is strengthened by using techniques which affect the texture of the surface.
I cross the quilt bounderies for example by designing wearable art.
And also by making textile objects like vessels.
My work is selected in many competitions and exhibitions throughout Europe.
I won several prizes in diverse competitions,
which is a great stimulation to go on.
